Faculty Recommendations for iWSG

Updated for 2011/2012 Brazil

You have been asked to write a recommendation for a student to the NNIN International Winter School for Graduate Students. (iWSG). This is a two week intense graduate level course conducted in an international setting. This years course will be held in conjunction with Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) in Campinas, Brazil and will cover  "Silicon and III-V Nano Photonics and Electronics" . This years offering will be Jan.8-20, 2012. Participants will travel to India where they will join selected participants from Brazil.  The course will be taught by notable faculty  from both the US and Brazil.  The first 6 days will cover the equivalent of an entire semester graduate course.  The last 5 days will be spend in a field experience in a rural part of Brazil . The intention of this course is to provide an intense academic experience in an international environment, coupled with a developing world technology implementation experience to help examine the broader social context of nanotechnology. 

Please write a letter of recommendation for the student. We are looking for mature students of exceptional ability.  Your letter should address how you know the applicant and your judgement of his/her suitability for this program. The letter should be written on your university letterhead and sent to the address below.
