Nanotechnology Educational Activities at University of Michigan
The University of Michigan’s Lurie Nanofabrication Facility (LNF) is involved in several activities in the area of Education and Outreach.
REU Program - Every summer, Michigan supports several undergraduate students through the NNIN REU program.
K-12 Outreach - The LNF conducts different types of outreach activities to pre-college students
NanoCamps, for middle and high school students. Students participate in cleanroom activities and hands on experiments introducing them to micro/nanotechnology.The LNF typically holds 3-5 NanoCamps every year.
Nanoscience workshop for K-12 teachers and educators, once or twice per year.
School visits. LNF/NNIN staff visit schools with demonstrations and/or presentations about nanotechnology (experiments, education, careers etc).
Workshops for Graduate Students and Professionals - The LNF conducts technical workshops on a specific application area or technique related to microelectronics, MEMS or nanotechnology. Typically, 1-3 workshops are offered every year.
Examples of topics covered in past workshop include RIE/DRIE, Wafer Bonding, Micro/Nanotechnology for Small Businesses, SEM/EDAX, Lab-on-a-Chip.
