This intensive four day short course, the CNF TCN, offered by the Cornell NanoScale Science & Technology Facility, combines lectures and laboratory demonstrations designed to impart a broad understanding of the science and technology required to undertake research in nanoscience.
The course was first given in June 2005 and was attended by 62 students and scientits. Attendance is not limited to CNF users or Cornell student, and is open to students, professionals , and community members with an interst in nanotechnology.
The course features both lectures and laboratory activities. An emphasis will be placed on CNF laboratory resources, however, the concepts and techniques discussed in this course are generally applicable to research in this field and do not require use of CNF. Please note the lab demonstrations do not replace any required CNF formal tool trainings.
For more information including a schedule of the June 2005 course, visit the CNF TCN web page.
The course was highly rated by the participants. We expect that this course will be offered several times per year, but the next instance is not yet scheduled.
The introductory lecture for this course, " What is Nanotechnology ", by Prof. Tiwari is available via streaming video with silides. (opens in new window). Other course content is limited to course participants.
